I have found a couple of pictures about I think a new project from SCS software and will look like Trucks and Trailers but in this one you only can drive withh Scania trucks. On the pictures stood that the name will be 'Scania truck driver simulator game'
SCS software them self has nothing confirmed so it wil be a question for everything.

I had looked on the internet, and I also found some pictures of this game.

The fact that we are working on another truck sim game in addition to ETS2 was one of the worst kept secrets. It was supposed to be under wraps until the very last moment, but such is the life of the games retail market. The publishing and distribution people need to work with retail chains to position any game in the development pipeline way ahead of release, and so the information and speculative release dates kept leaking left and right.

So what is this game and why does it even exist when you could argue that we should focus 100% on Euro Truck Simulator 2?

The project is the result of a very productive dialogue we have started with the great guys at Scania CV AB. You could have read our grumbling repeatedly here on this blog about how difficult it is for the company our size to even get noticed by the big guys, be them truck and trailer manufacturers or logistics companies. The "serious" industry too often considers games as something controversial and unimportant anyway, and even marketing departments are usually too conservative and concentrated on traditional media to grasp the idea that the thousands and thousand of people playing truck sims are in fact the ideal audience that they could approach through our game.

Fortunately, when we approached Scania about licensing their trucks for our games, this was not the case. In fact we immediately moved on to another stage - discussion on how we could work together on something deeper. And when such an opportunity appears - you just don't want to let it pass. This is a chance for us to learn a lot, and also a chance to get our production recognized in the transportation industry in general. We are in this for the long run (or at least so long as we have enough paying customers), and building industry contacts and experience is crucial for us in our quest to build an ultimate truck simulator combining best of both words - interesting for a gamer as well as a professional driver.

Scania Truck Driving Simulator is only about three times the depth and scope of Truck & Trailers, so still a relatively small game, but the variety of activities available in the game makes it way more balanced product. There are driving-school type of tasks in the game for a warm up. There is a big segment devoted to emulating the hard challenges in Scania's Young European Truck Driver competition (BTW you should really check out what the masters behind the wheel are capable of, just watch a bit of the previous YETD finals). But there is also a lot of fun-to-drive realistic-looking scenarios included, plus a sizable map just for free roaming deliveries. This game is packed with hours and hours of interesting driving for sure. Plus our very first step towards making our games networking-enabled, with the possibility to compete (and see other people's driving performances) over the Internet.

We are still here!

Sorry about the news on the blog appearing slower than you might want. You constantly keep asking for news from both ETS2 as well as Scania TDS, but we are so swamped with work now that there is little time left for blogging.

We are in the final push on the Scania Truck Driving Simulator project (so this means the game is not yet finished - and the release will be is at least several weeks from now.) We now have a closed beta going on with an "inner circle" of people from the fan community whom we know we can fully trust. It's a major help for improving the quality of the game, but it also means that we needed to add a couple of extra days of development time for this final polishing. Translators needed

You might have learned from some hints on the blog that Scania Truck Driving Simulator is already being translated, both by professional translators from the game's publishers as well as with the big help of volunteers from our fan community. We are using the same approach that we used for Trucks & Trailers - the crowd-sourcing method - but so far we have kept the translation away from the eyes of the public. We only invited a few accomplished people we knew we could trust from their past involvement to play the role of moderators when we bring in more translators one day.

That day is coming now. We have many of the languages in solid quality already, but we could use additional translation power to cover more languages for countries where we know we have fans eager to play the games as well. And we hope we can involve our fan community again to serve the needs of the community.

We are not going to open the floodgates to anybody though. The experience with Trucks & Trailers was such that there were too many participants eager to "score easy points" and rather than putting to service their braincells to come up with a quality translation, they used Google Translate. The result was too much noise in the system, too many quarrels and quite some frustration.

Write us a few lines explaining why you are the right person to get the invitation (yes, we are going to look at your text to get an impression about your command of the English language). Do not post your e-mail here in the comments, get in touch with us directly!

Thank you in advance for your help - this is the only economically viable method to have the game translated into languages which are typically mostly ignored even by big game publishers. In fact was have seen that the quality of the resulting translation can achieve very high standard. Many of you know the proper trucking and logistics terminology, unlike "generic" translators typically used by translation agencies.

Translation of Scania TDS progressing well!

If you see errors related to your language there which happened during its import into the engine, it is because there are characters used in the translations which do not belong into the language's codepage.

When a game is released, it's hard to pinpoint a specific moment in time when the team can consider the work to be truly finished. The game has "gone gold" a few days ago already - we have started producing the "gold masters" for our publishing partners - but the process has been going on through the whole week and it's going to continue well into the next week.

Meanwhile, we have been hard at work finishing elements of the official game website (www.scaniadrivergame.com), which we expect to launch early next week.

Our brave group of beta testers kept torturing the game even after the official finish line, and they have managed to discover a few glitches that we need to fix. So the programmers and designers kept going, working on the first patch of the game. If you are curious, here is the "changelog" so far:

Additional type of steering wheel & pedals-friendly automatic gearbox which does not flip brake and accelerator pedals during reverse movement.
It is possible to give hints to the automatic gearbox using the Shift Up/Shift Down buttons.
Fixed HUD mirrors and look presets for UK vehicles.
Fixed waiting times on gas stations
Better TV camera placement on several YETD challenges
Three additional bonus Dangerous Drives levels built

The game has also started to get mentions in the news. Scania corporation has a piece of news on their Newsroom announcing the upcoming game. Over at truckgame.cz, a competition has been announced giving away copies of Scania Truck Driving Simulator to winners over the next couple of days.

We also need to prepare more promotional material to warm up the public to the game launch, and today we have a new little movie for you, showing scenes from the free-driving map.

Teething problems

Scania Truck Driving Simulator has been out for some 48 hours on the official website, and frankly speaking, many things did not go quite right, as you have witnessed yourself. Our hand was forced to launch the game website a few days ahead of plan, due to the fact that the game hit the shops in Poland a week before the official global street date. It was urgent to get the leaderboards and online registration process up and running. This in turned caused an avalanche of complains from you, our most dedicated fans, that it's not fair not to be able to join in the fun while people in one country already can. So to make you happy, we want ahead and started offering the digital edition as well, while all preparations were not yet fully completed. There were so many people immediately downloading the game that our servers almost melted, and we did not manage to add mirrors for the downloads fast enough. Then even the official game site went down for a few minutes due to traffic overload. But there hides some good news in the bad news - it's good to have problems because so many people are so interested in getting their hands on the game!

By the way in Poland the Polish box edition of the game is doing quite well, currently sitting nicely at #5 in the Best Seller chart at Empik.com. We know that our games have a huge following in Poland, but it would be a dream to be able to replicate this on other markets next week.

Engine optimizations, game improvements

Good news - the engine team has managed to speed up the graphics engine in the past two weeks, in some scenes it now works up to 30%-50% faster than before. The feedback gathered from Scania Truck Driving Simulator players has helped us spot the opportunity for such optimization. Of course this is great news for ETS2 development as well.

The result is update to version 1.2.0 for the game. The new version has more cool things in it than just running faster - there are two new Dangerous Drives challenges in it, and the controller configuration screen was re-done to allow for setting multiple input devices (important for players using "pro" pedals or shifters in combination with a separate steering wheel. Last but not least, we believe we have identified and fixed a bug in OpenAL sound library causing problems for some people on 32 bit WinXP systems.

The Competition is here!

The feature of the game to show re-plays of other players driving in the game challenges is a unfortunately not as widely used as we had hoped. Our estimates are that less than 20% of customers who have purchased the game took the time to register on the official website, so they are not only unable to take part in the competitions, but also are not even able to visually check out the best results and learn something from them. We are thinking of changing this feature of the game when we update it again, so that even people playing the unregistered or unactivated game in demo mode can see those recordings. We thought about whether to include this feature for every player during the initial game's release, but we feared that the initial piracy spike experienced by any game would cause so much traffic to our results database that we would be effectively suffering from a DDoS-like problem.

Seeing how close the results were, we are ready to give a free copy of ETS2 not just to the best 3 participants of the competition, but to include the first FOUR places :-).

Scania Truck Driving Simulator Just Got Bigger!

We had to re-set the Leaderboard for the Deliveries map back to zero for everyone, so you are starting from scratch when exploring the new part of the map and delivering your first cargo.

This is still not the final word from us on this game. There are more Dangerous Drives maps in the pipeline, and we are also continuing to improve the technology. So more updates can still be expected from us. In fact the same strategy is planned for ETS2 - the release date is only the start of further evolution of the games.

Speaking about failing with time estimates, we are tempted to claim that the Linux version of ETS2 is now less than two weeks away from being ready for release. Didn't we say it was two weeks away from release several months ago already? We are bad at estimates indeed, and we shouldn't give in to temptation yet again.
