Euro Truck 2 retail edition update is available now

For those of you who still are resisting quick-day-one Steam update system, we have finally built the retail game update and uploaded it to mirror servers.

Please strongly consider use of mirrors instead of direct download, for faster speed and to avoid overloading of our own lines. Just last week one of our server capacity providers (we have three servers at different providers) requested that we switch to a higher-bandwidth higher-price tier for our machine, citing too much bandwidth consumed that they have hard time load-balancing. Keeping the game maintained for a long period of time does have it costs you see.

Get ready for Euro Truck Simulator 1.12 Update

If you are a MOD maker, this is a super useful feature for fast browsing of your creations without leaving the desktop, rather than having to drive to the nearest truck shop of a given truck brand.

Browse all trailers, their types and sub-types featured in the game. Yet again if you happen you have a MOD trailer in the game, you can check it out right away in the Trailer browser without having to wait for it to spawn randomly in the game.

We are still astonished with the gorgeous shots you guys upload to World of Trucks. New Photo mode features are:

Lastly, the fourth 1.12 Update feature will allow you to filter and search your next cargo more easily. We have implemented cargo filtering by the following groups: Machinery, ADR, Containers, Refrigerated, Liquid, Fragile, Construction, and Bulk Cargo.

So now you shouldn't have a problem to find your desired type of load, including new cargoes from High Power Cargo Pack, among the hundreds job offers the game usually has available at any moment.

High Power Cargo Pack DLC is based on new code hooks implemented in the 1.12 Update, so if you want to use it, make sure to allow the Steam client to update the game to the latest version. This DLC is yet one more that will only be available for the Steam edition of the game - as we tried to explain previously, we don't have the infrastructure in place to allow for purchasing and maintaining of micro-DLCs.

Just released: ETS2 ver 1.12 and a New High Power Cargo Pack DLC!

While people who are comfortable with using mods have a variety of cargoes to pick from beyond the standard set, customers sticking to official releases have been repeatedly requesting that we add more content to the game. This release marks another small step in expanding the ETS2 universe; in the future we'd like to look into additional truck tuning options, both inside the cabin and outside of the vehicle, but we also plan to revisit trailers and cargoes again. A new official license from a trailer manufacturer is on the horizon, it may inspire us to pursue this type of evolution of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

So, achievements. Actually, at this stage we are preparing two different sets of achievements for you:

   World of Trucks Achievements

   Drive at least 999 km with each truck brand featured in the game. Only your owned trucks are counted. (MAN, DAF, Majestic, Renault, Iveco, Scania, Volvo) - Test drive limited Medium

Jobs

   Take an urgent delivery for a minimum of 550 km and complete it with less than 30 minutes remaining - Just in time! Medium
   Complete a delivery that was greater than 2,000 km - Long hauler Medium
   Perform jobs for at least 15 different companies in the game - Reliable contractor Hard
   Complete a job worth over €130,000 and minimum 2,200 km without using a ferry - Profit hunter Medium
   Complete deliveries with all trailer types (Machinery, ADR cargo, Container, Refrigerated, Liquid cargo, Fragile cargo, Construction, Bulk cargo) - Experience beats all! Medium
   Complete a perfect delivery (no damage, no fines, in-time) for a job that is at least 1000 km. - Job is only worth it if it's done well! Medium
   Complete 5 jobs in a row - in-time, without taking any damage and without using autoparking - Careerist Hard

The first news about design

One of the features that has been under discussion for a long time is another type of DLC - Rigid Trucks.

Having rigids in the game brings quite a bit of challenges for us - the developers, as we would have to touch an established gameplay formula, and for you - the drivers, as backing these beasts is far from easy!

Naturally we need to take care of seamless in-game integration, with physics, economy, loading / unloading places infrastructure... There is both good and bad there, this challenge may persuade us to reconsider the concept of trailer ownership. But you know us, the more ambitious we are in altering the gameplay, the more time we typically take to make this happen. We will push to arrive to a broad concept of trailer ownership, though here we will start with one particular case - a swap body trailer on which you'll be loading the containers, cisterns and other loads suitable for rigid truck transportation.

For a driver, this is going to be a whole new challenge, especially when it comes to loading and unloading cargo. So in case you thought your parking skill is near perfection with ETS2, think again! Smile Rigids with attached swap body trailer will test your maneuvering skills again. Of course, if you are not a hardcore player or just prefer just to chill out and ride, auto-parking feature is still at your disposal.

ETS2 Steam Achievements are live now!

   Steam achievements
   Added functionality to unbind keys/buttons/axes in game ui
   Added cruise control grid option
   Cruise control speed limited to truck speed limit speed (if enabled)
   Quickload and quicksave
   Bindable keys/buttons for increasing and decreasing of radio volume

Data

   Fixed speed limits in some countries (Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia)
   Fixed license plate generation in some cities (Graz, Klagenfurt, Ostrava)


From this point of view this update should not break too many mods, but your mileage may vary. If you are playing the game with mods, it is always a good idea to make backups of your profile folder structure to safeguard older save game files, and be aware of means to revert back to earlier version if you deem it desirable. This is actually very easy on Steam - we are using the system of Steam betas for keeping older releases of the game accessible.

Retail variant of this game update, of course without the Steam Achievements, will be made available in a couple of days.

For the next game update to version 1.14, the changes in code and game data will be much bigger. We are merging in changes to the game world, especially the northern parts that need to be altered for having good connections to the future region of Scandinavia. A lot of game and engine code has been changed, and 1.14 will roll in various improvements that the programming team has queued up for release over circa past 3 months. And last but not least, finally the new Euro 6 DAF truck tractor is almost ready, with the last round of iterations based on feedback from DAF Trucks N.V. getting us very close to desired quality. Testing all this mix of changes and additions is a complex procedure, please have patience with us!

We have expanded the mix of available chassis for purchase from three to six. Chassis 6x2, 6x2/4 received tag-lift versions. It is not just a cosmetic visual gimmick, the physical properties of the vehicle do change with a lifted axle.

Anybody who will satisfy the condition above will receive his or her unique key to unlock the Christmas Paint Jobs Pack DLC on Steam on Thursday of next week.

But that's not all - this is only a start of something bigger. As a part of December update of ETS2 to version 1.15, we are now preparing a special Christmas event that should bring seasonal cargo for a bit of extra fun, and a chance for yet another exclusive freebie to earn. Stay tuned!

For a majority of our players, it is of course wiser to stick with the official builds of the game that are properly tested before the release. But if you want to take a sneak peek at what's coming and help us in testing the update before release, your help is appreciated. In order to access beta, you must first activate your game on Steam - refer to our guide for a simple step-by-step procedure.
When you have your game activated on Steam, navigate to your Library and right click on the Euro Truck Simulator 2 then select properties from the menu. When properties window opens, select "BETAS" tab and from the drop down menu select "public_beta". After properties window is closed Steam will automatically start downloading the latest version of the update.
